(10/02/10) H. Jean Legare, 83, of Warwick, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Herman J. Legare and Emma (King) Legare. He was the loving husband of the late Maureen A. (Madden) Legare.
Mr. Legare was a Photo Engraver for the Providence Journal for thirty years until his retirement. He was a member of Club Marquette of Woonsocket, a former parishioner of St. Rose of Lima, and a member of the International Photo Engravers Union of N.A Local 39. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII.
He leaves his five children: Kevin R. Legare of Cumberland, Stephen T. Legare of Plymouth, MA, John B. Legare of Warwick, Elizabeth A. Legare of West Warwick, and Maura L. McDonald of Saunderstown. He was the father of the late David J. Legare. He was the cherished grandfather of 14 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 3 great-grandchildren. He was the loving brother of Paul Legare of Brockton, and the late Robert Legare and Louise Coe.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
