(05/06/13) Donald Parente, 78, of Matteson Road, Coventry, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 at home. He was the husband of Carolyn M. (Tourgee) Parente. They were married for fifty six years.
Born in Coventry, he was the son of the late Thomas and Exima (Legault) Parente.
He was a lace worker for the former Stella Hall in Coventry for twenty years until retiring in 1995.
He was a US Army Veteran during peace time and belonged to the Manchester Masonic Lodge, No. 12 in Coventry and was Past Master of that lodge in 1971.
Besides his wife, he leaves three children; Kim H. Parente, Susan L. Lamelin, and Timothy Parente, two sisters; Esther Phillips and Delia Hicks, six grandchildren and one great grandson. He was predeceased by his brothers; Wilfred and Raymond Parente and Thomas Parrott, his sisters, Hilda Bentley, Eleanor Hotaling, and Florence Parente.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 9th at 7:00 pm in the Gorton Menard Funeral Home and Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Military Honors will be held at 4:00 pm followed by a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial will be private.
