(05/08/13) Carlton E. Burnham, Sr., 92, formerly of Meredith Drive died Tuesday at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Craig) Burnham with whom he celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on December 30, 2012.
Born in Coventry, a son of the late Albert F. and Mary (Ferguson) Burnham, he was a graduate of Bryant College and a US Navy veteran of WWII. For over 25 years he worked for Centreville National Bank.
He was a member, deacon and trustee of Phenix Baptist Church in West Warwick and a former member of Quidnick Baptist Church where he served as treasurer and on the building committee. He was a member of the Coventry Pines Senior Golf League. He belonged to Manchester Lodge No. 12 F&AM, Anthony; the Scottish Rite Valley of Providence and the Rhode Island Shriners.
Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter: Lori B. Mageau and her husband Norman J. of Coventry; one son: Duane C. Burnham and his wife Michelle of Coventry; his brother Francis Burnham of Coventry; his daughter-in-law Lois Burnham of Beverly Hills, FL and his five grandchildren: Jennifer L. Mageau, Carlton E. Burnham III, Cory J. Burnham, Jessica S. Burnham and Zachary P. Burnham. He was the father of the late Carlton E. Burnham, Jr.
Funeral service Friday at 10 AM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours Thursday 4-7 PM. Burial with military honors in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
