(07/23/13) Edith L. (Morton) Bonner, 90, of Nooseneck Hill Road, West Greenwich, RI, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013, after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Robert E. \"Smokey\" Bonner, Jr. for 52 years until his death in 1999.
Born in Warwick, RI, she was the daughter of the late Edwin L. Morton and Lea (LeBrun) Morton and had resided in West Greenwich for eighty-seven years. After growing up on her family\'s farm she married and moved to her present home in 1947.
Edith worked for the Exeter-West Greenwich School District as a teacher\'s aide for twenty years before retiring in 1992. She enjoyed her retirement years tending to her yard and flower gardens.
She is survived by her three children; Robert E. Bonner, Brian L. Bonner and Barbara A. Harrington, all of West Greenwich, RI and a grandson; Robert E. Bonner, II.
She was the sister of; the late Edwin E. Morton, Hazel L. Studley and Harold T. Morton, and the aunt of several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 10:00 am in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home and Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours are Thursday, July 25 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial will be in the Rathbun Cemetery, Coventry, RI.
