(09/01/13) Russell E. Dwyer, 87, formerly of Major Potter Road, Warwick passed away on August 25, 2013 at his home in Little River, South Carolina. He was the beloved husband of M. Theresa âTerryâ (Lawton) Dwyer and the late Barbara L. (Holmestrom) Dwyer. Born in West Warwick, he was a son of the late James H. and Hilda G. (Nelson) Dwyer.
Mr. Dwyer was employed at Quonset Naval Air Station and then as a limousine driver for Leesona Corp. He served in The United States Army during WW II and was a member of The Masonic Order.
He was the loving father of David E. Dwyer and his wife Bethany and Douglas A. Dwyer and his wife Carole, all of Coventry. Caring step-father of Gregory Champoux of the Netherlands and Renee St. George of Palm Bay, FL. Devoted grandfather of four, step grandfather of four and step great grandfather of six. Cherished brother of Harold C. Dwyer of Warwick, Irving N. Dwyer of North Kingstown, Norman N. Dwyer of Coventry and the late Howard and Mary Dwyer.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 5-8 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 8:00 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95).
Relatives and friends may also gather on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 9:45 am in the Administration Building Parking Area of The R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, South County Trail, Exeter followed by a committal service with military honors.
