(10/15/13) Philip Edward March, 90, of Meredith Drive, a resident of Coventry, RI for fifty-five years, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at home. Born on December 25, 1922 in Warwick, RI, he was married to Gertrude M. (Pease) March. They were married for fifty-five years. He was the son of the late Winfred and Ethel (Sawyer) March.
Mr. March was a commercial artist, designer and art teacher. He was also a portrait, landscape and mural artist. He worked as a commercial artist for Benny\'s for thirty-five years.
Philip was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII with General Patton\'s Third Army in the European Theater, France, Belgium, and Germany. He was a soldier with the 204th Field Artillery.
He attended the School of Practical Art, and the Museum of Fine Art with classes in Boston and also attended the R.I. School of Design. He was a member of the Providence Water Color Society and the Valley Art Association. He was a fifty-two year member of Beneficient Congregational Church where he was a deacon and choir member. He also belonged to the Coventry Senior Center.
Philip is survived by a daughter; Cynthia R. Deluca, two grandchildren; Robert and Vincent Lowell and a great grandson; Evan Lowell.
