(10/18/13) Evangelia Peter (Valmas) Raptakis, 82, of Coventry, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence, RI. She was the wife of the late Paraskevas D. Raptakis. Evangelia was born on October 30, 1930 in Andros, Greece and was the daughter of Leonidas and Frangesca (Valmas). She married Paraskevas Raptakis in Greece.
Mrs. Raptakis came to the United States in 1958. She worked in the family businesses, the Three Star Restaurant and Venus Pizza alongside her husband and family members.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Dimitrios P. Raptakis, and his wife Karen Raptakis of East Stroudsburg, PA, and State Senator Leonidas P. Raptakis and his wife Dr. Donna Raptakis and her grandchildren, Alexandra and Nicholas Raptakis of Coventry, RI. She was the sister of the late Maria Kyrtatas.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Oct. 21, 2103, at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick, RI (Exit 12A on I-95) from 4 to 8 pm. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, Oct.22, 2013 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Ave., Cranston, RI at 10 am. Please go directly to church. Burial will be held in Andros, Greece.
