(02/16/14) East Greenwich - Geraldine E. Abberton, R.N., 77, of Boxwood Drive died Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Village at Waterman Lake in Smithfield. She was the beloved wife of the late James S. Abberton Jr. to whom at the time of his death on January 11, 2010 she had been married 62 years.
A daughter of the late Clinton J. and Hanora M. (Martin) Robertson Sr., she graduated from Lockwood High School, Warwick in 1954 and from St. Joseph\'s Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master\'s Degree in Health Education from Rhode Island College.
She was a School Nurse/Teacher, employed by the Warwick School Department for over 30 years, last working at the Cedar Hill Elementary School before retiring in 2006.
She is survived by two daughters: Jacqueline Abberton of Westerly and Catherine Cloutier & her husband David of Derry, NH; two sons: Michael Abberton of East Greenwich and Timothy Abberton of South Kingstown; one sister: Catherine Dumais of Coventry; two brothers: Thomas Robertson of NC and Clinton J. Robertson, Jr. of Providence; one granddaughter: Ashley Chotain-Gunzelman & her husband Chris Gunzelman of Buda, TX and one great granddaughter: Breslin Elise Gunzelman. She was the sister of the late Kenneth Robertson.
Funeral service Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours Tuesday 5-7 PM. Burial will be in St. Patrick\'s Cemetery, East Greenwich.
