(03/03/14) William E. Stromberg, 89, of Meadow Drive died Sunday at the West View Health Center. He was the husband of the late Shirley M. (Anderson) Stromberg.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Gunnar and Mary V. (Hunt) Stromberg, he had been a West Warwick resident for 57 years. Mr. Stromberg was an electrician with Local 99 I.B.E.W. for 40 years before retiring in 1986 and was a member of Local 99 for 71 years. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He leaves four sons, William M. Stromberg of Colorado Springs, CO; Edward F. Stromberg of Weymouth, MA; Paul F. Stromberg of Warwick and Michael G. Stromberg of Lincoln; two daughters, Ann M. Barone of Johnston and Mary C. Lancellotta of Coventry; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was the brother of Claire M. Lowe of Coventry, Ann G. Daley of Coventry, Joseph C. Stromberg of N. Scituate; Richard E. Stromberg of South Kingstown and the late Ruth A. Reid.
His funeral will be Thursday at 8:45 am from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Crompton, 70 Church Street, West Warwick at 10AM. Calling Hours Wednesday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to the Providence Rescue Mission 627 Cranston St. Providence, RI 02907 will be appreciated.
