(01/22/15) James Milton Wilson, age 77, of Shoreside Apartments, passed away at Brentwood Nursing Home on January 20, 2015 after an extended illness.
Jim was the son of the late Nelson Horatio and Emma Keenzel Wilson and was a familiar figure in East Greenwich for over fifty years.
For almost forty years, Jim was the business manager of the Varnum Memorial Armory in East Greenwich. At various times he was also employed by the Town of East Greenwich, County Squires Real Estate and the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home in Warwick.
Jim was a true patriot and direct descendent of the Revolutionary War Hero Nathaniel Stowell. He was a former member of the RI Army National Guard, a Major in the R.I. Militia and an honorary member of the Kentish Guards, R.I.M. Jim was also an honorary RI State Fire Marshal, an honorary member of the Lodge #19, F.O.P. and an honorary member of the Kent County Medical Society.
Among his many cousins, James is survived by Lydia Lefebvre and Dorothy Bonenfant, both of Warwick, and many friends and acquaintances.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at 11 AM in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Ave., East Greenwich. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015 from 2 PM â 4 PM in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. Burial will take place in East Greenwich Cemetery.
