(07/15/15) Pauline (Polly) Y. Hudson, 92, of Coventry, RI passed away on July 15, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Carlton B. Hudson for 68 years. She met Carlton in Charlotte, North Carolina when he was in the army during World War II.
Pauline was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ella Mae Young of Bakersville, North Carolina and was the last surviving of their eight children. She is survived by her three loving children, Gregory E. Hudson of Naples, Florida, Loretta A. Bixby (Robert) of Greenville, Rhode Island, and Gary C. Hudson of Coventry, Rhode Island, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Polly was an essential contributor and partner with her husband Carlton in operating the family business, Hudsonâs Cleaners, in Phenix, RI. She was also a long term member of the Shepherd of the Valley United Methodist Church. She was known for her church and civic leadership roles, leading PTAâs and their events, womenâs groups and activities in church and working at the polling sites in election years.
Polly could often be found tending to her gardening, a pastime which gave her great pleasure.
Calling hours are respectfully omitted. A graveside service will be held for her family and friends at Greenwood Cemetery in Coventry on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 11:00 am.
