(08/07/15) SMITH, John, Jr., 93, of West Warwick, passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence.
He was the husband of the late Lorna T. (Lautieri) Smith. Born in Washington, NC, he was the son of the late John and Annabelle (Leggett) Smith. He resided in West Warwick for 64 years.
Mr. Smith was an aircraft mechanic for the U.S. Navy at Quonset Point for 25 years before retiring in 1972. He was a WW II Navy Veteran, avid gardener and outdoorsman.
He is survived by two sons, John W. Smith and his wife Janet of Warwick and Timothy M. Smith and his fiancée Patricia Rodrigues of Portsmouth and a granddaughter, Courtney A. Smith. He was the father of the late Magistrate Gordon M. Smith, RI Superior Court.
Visitation and funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015 from 9:30 - 10:30 am in the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence Street, West Warwick.
