(09/23/15) MAZZENGA, Giovanni âJohnâ, 91, of West Warwick, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015 at Kent Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Maria D. (Moretti) Mazzenga, they had been married for 67 years. Born in Pontecorvo, Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Lucia (Vellone) Mazzenga.
Mr. Mazzenga was a construction worker with Campanella & Cardi Construction for many years before retiring.
Besides his wife he leaves a son, Anthony (Brenda) Mazzenga of Warwick; four daughters, Lucy Santurri (David) of West Warwick, Josephine Nicholls formerly of Cranston, Rita Petrarca (Kevin) of Newburg, NY and Tina Zampa (Gerald) of Escondido, CA; a brother, Aroldo Mazzenga (Theresa) of South Kingstown; three sisters, Maria, Anna and Francesca Mazzenga of Italy; grandchildren, Michael Mazzenga and Stephanie Holbert, Christopher and Ryan Santurri, Lauren and Cory Nicholls and Nathan and Evan Petrarca; twelve great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Oliva Petrilli (Frank) and many nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Michael Nicholls and the brother of the late Luigi, Saverio and Vincenzina Mazzenga.
His funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at 10 am from The PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence St., West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence St., West Warwick. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Friday, 4-7 pm.
