(12/13/15) Kenneth R. Grenier, 62, of Coventry died Friday, December 11, 2015 at home. He was the beloved husband of 39 years to Joan M. (Smosna) Grenier and was the son of the late Leo L. and Loretta Shirley (Lambert) Grenier.
Kenneth was the loving father of Jay D. Smith, Kelly J. Grenier-Riley and Karen J. Grenier, the beloved grandfather of Ava Grenier-Riley, Jonathan Riley and Donovan Roy Grenier-Tucker and brother of Trisan Sutrisno. He was the father of the late twins Jonathan D. and Jessica E. Grenier.
Kenny was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church where he met and married his wife and served as an usher. Later, having moved to Kent County, they were members of the Gospel Temple Assembly of God in Conventry-West Greenwich where served as an usher and later nursery coordinator for many years. Later they worshiped at the Community Chapel, The Word of Life Covenant Church where he served as a Deacon, an usher and was also employed at the church and their daycare Noahs Ark as a part-time maintenance worker. He recently took his wife to Faith Fellowship in West Greenwich where they both immediately felt at home and decided it was their new church home.
Kenny was an avid fisherman. He would start after Christmas preparing his fishing equipment for opening day in April. For the majority of the fishing season he could be found at Tiogue Lake or Tarbox Pond. He acquired the skills to salt water fish because his wife loved the ocean and wanted to be busy while he and his wife enjoyed the ocean.
Kenny was always busy doing things. In addition to fishing, Kenny enjoyed coin collecting, his model train sets and building scenery for the trains, doing odd jobs around the house including erecting a fence for the back yard and reading and studying the Word of God and sharing his faith with others In 1979, when he bought his first home and had to rewire it, he did the work himself and when checked by a master electrician, had been done perfectly to code. Prior to his marriage, Kenny was a volunteer fireman from early age of fifteen until 1976 for the Town of Coventry Washington Fire District.
