Charles "Charlie" A Berry - , RI

(02/01/16) Berry, Charles A., 81, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Kent Hospital of Warwick, RI. Charlie was a devoted husband and friend to Patricia A. (Dwyer) Berry of Coventry. He was born in Coolidge, Kansas to the late Charles “Dick” and Ruth (Boulden) Berry. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years overlapping two wars, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Charlie transitioned his skills from the Navy into a 32 year career as a stationary engineer with The Providence Civic Center, now known as the Dunkin Donuts Center. He was well liked by all that knew him. He had good Christian values, cherished his wife and was a dedicated family man. Besides his wife Patricia, he is survived by two stepchildren: George DelFarno (his wife Erin) of Seaford, Delaware and Susan DelFarno of Coventry, RI; two sisters: Marilyn Schuster of Charlotte, NC and Elaine Baird of Bayfield, CO and seven grandchildren Haley and Ashley Pittman and Jennifer, Sydney, Gianna, Sophia and George Thomas DelFarno.. He is predeceased by a brother, Eugene Berry. Charlie was referred to as PaPa and adored and loved his entire family. A Mass of Christian Burial and processional gathering will take place at SS. John & Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry, RI at 9 AM on Saturday, February 6 followed with burial and military honors in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 6 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SS. John & Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry, RI 02816. Remembrances may be shared at carpenterjenks.com.
