(04/11/16) John F. McKeon, 99, of Warwick passed away on April 8, 2016 at Elmhurst Extended Care. He was the husband of the late Frances M. (Coffey) McKeon. Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late Andrew and Mary L. (LaFleur) McKeon.
Mr. McKeon was an Educator for the Providence School System for over 20 years, retiring in 1979. He also served in The United States Navy during WW II. He received his Bachelors Degree from Providence College and his Masters Degree in Education from Rhode Island College. He was a life member of the American Legion and volunteered for many years at Kent Hospital.
He was the loving father of Judith M. McKeon of Mercer Island, WA, John L. McKeon and his wife June of Bonita Springs, FL, Thomas A. McKeon and his wife Midori of Richmond, CA and Joseph P. McKeon and his wife Kelly of Warwick. Cherished grandfather of three. He was the brother of the late Andrew J. McKeon, Joseph E. McKeon and Honora E. King.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Paul Church, One St. Paul Place, Cranston. Burial in St. Ann Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to St. Paul School, 1789 Broad St., Cranston, RI 02905 would be appreciated.
