(04/23/16) Ernest Campos Jr., 80 of Warwick passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at West Shore Health Center. He was the beloved husband of Susan M. (Dacey) Campos for 49 years. He was born in New Bedford, Mass., son of the late Ernest Campos, Sr. and Gladys (Allsopp) Campos. Mr. Campos was a Manager for Sears, Roebuck & Co. for 22 yrs before his retirement in 1987. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of and served as Master of Quittacus Lodge AF&AM in 1968. He was a member of the Shriners, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Southeastern Mass, a member of the Sword of Bunker Hill Gaspee Order No 99, a member of the Kiwanis Club New Bedford, Mass. He was also a member of the VFW in New Bedford, Mass. Mr. Campos was a member of the American Legion, Elmwood Post 60 and served as Commander and Treasurer of Elmwood Post 60 and as president of the Past Commanders Club. He was also a Warwick Reserve and Community Service Officer; also teaching at the Municipal Police Academy, Range Officer at the Warwick Police Rifle & Pistol Range, he served as the Treasurer of the Warwick Range Activities Committee. He was a NRA Certified Instructor and a member of the RI State Rifle & Revolver Assoc. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). He was the loving father of Maria E. Campos of Warwick, Deborah S. Rodrigues and her husband Domingos of Exeter, and cherished grandfather of Casey E Rodrigues. A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 11:00 am in St Barnabus Episcopal Church 3257 Post Road Warwick, RI Burial with military honors will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery , Exeter, RI Relatives and friends are invited. Calling Hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5 Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95).
