(12/30/10) Virginia S. Johnson, 89, of Division Road, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at the Alpine Nursing Home in Coventry. She was the wife of the late Arthur S. Johnson.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Harold and Mildred H. (Vanasse) Soutar, she had lived in East Greenwich since 1983. She was a retired office manager and bookkeeper for Lighting Service of RI. Virginia enjoyed reading, knitting, music and travel.
She is survived by her step-son Todd G. Johnson and his wife Jean of East Greenwich; her step-grandson Dennis A. Johnson; her step-great grandchildren Dennis and Alexandria Johnson; her nephew Roy L. Owens; her niece Joyce Lacallade and her four great nieces and nephew, Amy, Janine, Jennifer, Kate and Miles.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 PM. After cremation in White Dove Crematory, West Warwick burial will be held on Wednesday, December 29th at 11:00 AM in North Burial Ground, Providence.
