(12/30/10) Jeannine T. (Willett) Light, R.N., 50, of Downing Street passed away from a respiratory illness on December 24, 2010 surrounded by her loving husband and children at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born in Astoria, Queens, NY Jeannine earned her degree in respiratory therapy from Nassau Community College in NY and her RN degree from Adelphi University. She was the founder and director of the Roger Williams Hospital Home Care Program and recently worked as a substitute school nurse for the East Greenwich School System.
She was an active member of the Citizens Who Care community organization in East Greenwich and the Ross Elkhay Foundation and was a fundraiser for the Tomorrow Fund. As an avid athlete, she participated in many fundraising road races and was frequently seen at Goldâs Gym in East Greenwich. A vibrant member of the East Greenwich community, she is best remembered as a loving mother and devoted wife.
She leaves behind her husband Dr. Gary D. Light D.M.D.; her son Jason (age 16); her daughters Marissa (age 14) and Shannon (age 12); her parents Roger and Therese (Bernier) Willett, her brother Michael Willett, her sister Lorraine Willett, her brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Leah Willett and her sister and brother-in-law, Therese and Michael Herrero all of New York.
Condolences may be offered TODAY, Monday, December 27th during a memorial gathering from 4:00 â 7:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her honor on Tuesday, December 28th at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Avenue, East Greenwich followed by graveside prayers and her burial in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
