(02/02/11) BOLEK, Walter K. âMickeyâ, 97, a lifelong resident of West Warwick, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 at Kent Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of 67 years to the late Edith K. (Kershaw) Bolek. He was the son of the late John and Barbara (Ciesla) Bolek.
Mr. Bolek was a propeller mechanic at Quonset Point during WW II and then was employed at Electric Boat and Bostitch for many years before retiring in 1978. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed all types of outdoor activities.
He leaves two sons, Walter R. Bolek of Warwick and James E. Bolek and his wife Pamela of North Scituate; a sister, Olympia Gallagher in New Jersey; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Stanley Bolek, Stasia Cotnoir and Balbina Collins.
His funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at 9:00 am from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington St., Coventry. Interment will follow in Greenwood Burial Grounds, Coventry. Visiting hours Friday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Walter to a charity of oneâs choice would be appreciated.
