(08/26/11) May Georgia Thomas-Long, 91 of West Greenwich, died Wednesday August 24, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at Kent Hospital, Warwick. She was the wife of the late Ross F. Long and the late Justin A. Thomas. Born in Foxboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew P. and Laura C. (Bell) Melcher. She was employed at Almacs Supermarket for 31 years retiring in 1982. Mrs. Long was a member of Ruth Chapter # 5; O.E.S.; a Past Matron, Order of Amaranth; Past Mother Advisor Pawtuxet Valley Assembly #8, Order of Rainbow for Girls where she was honored with the Grand Cross Color; a member of Cpl. Albert P Cahill V.F.W. Auxiliary; Sunday School Teacher for 10 years and Past President of St. Matthias Episcopal Church Women and Local 238 Retiree Club. She is survived by three daughters: Carol Clayton of Warwick, Corinne Lapastora of West Warwick, May Toth of Washington, four grandchildren, Justine Saavedra, Jennifer Petrin, Angela Toth and Nicholas Toth, nine great grandchildren, Alex, Christopher, Aidan, Rhianna, Alexis, Timothy, Blake, Robbie and Brandon, ten great great grandchildren, Michael, Cody, Kelsey, Jayce, Cade, Eloisa, Breanna, Jonathan, Brandon and Jaelyn. She was the sister of Grace Lautieri of Coventry, Robert Melcher of Pinellas Park, FL, Andrew P. Melcher Jr. of MI and the late Laura Babbitt and George Melcher. Funeral from the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Ave. West Warwick Tuesday August 30 at 9:45AM, followed by funeral services at St. Mark\'s Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Road, Warwick at 11AM.
