(09/03/11) Catherine F. (Black) Dexter, 84, of Warwick passed away Thursday at Kent Hospital. She was the wife of the late Raymond R. Dexter. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late James A. and Mary Ellen (Baxter) Black.
Mrs. Dexter was a Sales Person for Ann & Hope Stores for 30 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a communicant of St. Timothy Church in Warwick and a member of the Gaspee Seniors and the Pilgrim Senior Center.
She was the beloved mother of Patricia A. Leatherberry and Barbara M. Beaudry, both of Warwick and the late Raymond C. Dexter, Sr. Loving sister of Sr. Mary Edwardine Black, R.S.M. of Warwick and the late Sgt. Edward Black (U.S.M.C.) who died in WW II, Charles Black, Margaret Guncheon, Mary Doherty and Evelyn Andreas. Cherished grandmother of eight and the late William C. Beaudry, Jr. and great-grandmother of twelve.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Timothy Church, Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday 5-8 pm.
