(09/30/11) John J. Hennessey, Sr., 79, of Gough Avenue, West Warwick, RI, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Kent Hospital, Warwick, RI. Born in Queens, NY he was the son of the late John and Agnes Hennessey. John was a pressman for Providence Gravure for thirty years until retiring. He also worked for Bradford Soap for two years in the security department. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW West Greenwich Post 9404.
John is survived by a son; John J. Hennessey, Jr., three daughters; Patricia M. Silvaggio, Cathline L. Bennett and her husband Michael, and Ellen F. Verney, fourteen grandchildren; Nathan, Julia, Sarah, Jennefer, Justin, and Jakob Silvaggio, Lauren Bennett, Michael Bennett, Sr., Kimberly Verney, Elizabeth Verney, Morganna, Samantha, Veronica and Trevor Hennessey and ten great grand children. He was predeceased by a son; Michael J. Hennessey.
A Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 11:00 am in the RI Veterans Cemetery, 310 South County Trail, Exeter, RI followed by Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the RI Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, RI 02809. Family and friends are invited to the VFW Post, 29 South Main Street, Coventry, RI at 1:00 pm.
