George "Bud" E Lord, Jr. - , RI

(12/10/11) George E. \"Bud\" Lord, Jr., 84, a resident of East Greenwich since 1963, died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Kent Hospital surrounded by his devoted family. The beloved husband for sixty two years of Joyce E. (Rosell) Lord, he was born in Providence the son of the late George E. Lord, Sr. and Mildred F. (Buzzell) Lord. Bud was the owner and operator of Bud Lord\'s Atlantic, Arco, and Shell Automotive Service Stations located in Providence, Cranston, and East Greenwich spanning a career of over forty years until his retirement. He also proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Active for many years at the Warwick Central Baptist Church, he served as President, Deacon, and member of the church Board of Trustees. He was a Past Master of Harmony Lodge #9, F&AM, and served as a member of the East Greenwich School Committee and the East Greenwich Republican Town Committee. Besides his wife, Bud leaves his loving children: Alan R. Lord and his wife Cindy of South Kingstown, Christine A. Lord of Peabody, MA; his cherished grandchildren: Julie E. Lord, Stephanie M. Lord, Jeffrey A. Lord, Alison N. Lord, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Jeffrey R. Lord and his sisters Virginia F. Jordan and Shirley Everson. His funeral service will be held Friday, December 16, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Warwick Central Baptist Church, 3270 Post Road, Warwick. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, East Greenwich. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95). In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to Warwick Central Baptist Church will be appreciated.
