Joyce Ann (Dawley) Corner - , RI

(08/30/10) Corner, Joyce Ann (Dawley) passed away with her family by her side on August 30, 2010, in Naples, FL. She was the loving wife of the late Ernest W. Corner. The Corners were residents of Naples, FL and Bald Peak Colony Club, Melvin Village, NH, and were former residents of Rhode Island for over sixty years. Joyce Ann was also predeceased by her second husband Charles Palmer formerly of Warwick Neck, RI. Joyce Ann was the daughter of the late Percy E. and Anna G. Dawley. She was born in Providence, RI, on October 4, 1926. She was graduated from Cranston High School and the University of Rhode Island where she served as editor-in-chief of the university newspaper. Joyce Ann worked at Brown University in cancer research and later taught elementary school in Warwick. The Corners were long time members of Warwick Country Club. Joyce Ann had three children and ten grandchildren and was the inspiration and the steadfast foundation for the family. She brought her family together and taught them the value of generosity and unconditional love. Joyce Ann was a member of St. John’s Church in Naples, FL, and a former member St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in East Greenwich, RI. She is survived by her children and their spouses Alison Corner and Albert Vandam of Scituate, MA, Susan and Robert Rosen of Charleston, SC, and Ernest W. and Susan H. Corner of N., Scituate, RI, and her ten grandchildren: Emily, Christen and Michael Adkins; Annie, Alexandra and Ernest W. Rosen; and Liz, David, and Brian Corner and Julia Claassen; her brother Richard Dawley of Seattle, WA; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog and companion Duchess. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick, RI, with the burial following at Quidnesset Memorial Cemetery, 6365 Post Road, North Kingstown, RI.
