(12/24/12) Johnson, Laura P. (Garcia), 101, a resident of Warwick since 1962, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012. Laura was the beloved wife of Ernest R. Johnson for 47 years, until his death in 1987. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elvira (Cunha) Garcia. She is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael O’Rourke of Warwick, three grandchildren: Anne, Caitrin and Conor O’Rourke, five nieces: Dotty O’Connor, Fran O’Connell, Mary Jo Egan, Jo O’Connell and Martha Lynch; and one nephew, Ewart Maroelli. She was the cherished sister of Josephine O’Connell and George Garcia and sister-in-law of Dorothy Maroelli. Laura also leaves all of her dedicated and loving caregivers at West View Health Care Center,her home for the last 7 years. Calling hours will be at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Saturday, December 29 from 8:15-9:15 AM followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Rose & Clement Church, 11 Long Street, Warwick. Interment will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery.
