Anne (Bedrosian) Kayarian - , RI

(09/29/10) Anne Kayarian, an elegant woman of extraordinary depth and talent, died on September 24th at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City after a rare and unforeseen surgical complication. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, 81 years ago she was the daughter of the late Harry and Alice (Nakshian) Bedrosian. Anne was a loving wife of 61 years to Harry Kayarian, a proud mother to daughter Judith Howard and her husband Lawrence of New York City and to sons David and his wife Kari of Greenland, New Hampshire and James and his wife Lisa of Palm Harbor, Florida and a devoted grandmother to her nine beloved grandchildren, Kathryn Howard Oremland and her husband Adam, Genna and Benjamin Howard, Fae, Jane, Ned, Emma, Ava and Evan Kayarian. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Casparian, of Cranston and her uncle, Dr. Jacob Nakshian of Attleboro, MA A graduate of Hope High, Anne was an avid reader, lover of education and the arts, and a tireless community advocate. In the 50’s she worked in the office of the Dean of Women at the University of Michigan, and after moving back to Warwick, taught Sunday school for fourteen years at Asbury United Methodist Church, was active in the PTA and Junior Women, and was involved in local and state politics. Anne was Vice President and Director of Sales at Coffeetime, Inc., a food service company managed by her husband. A member of the RI Library Association and the Friends of the Warwick Public Library, Anne went on to be Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and a major donor to, the Warwick Public Library, whose development and growth she championed for decades. Anne was a woman of character and strength who made a real difference in the lives she touched and in the community in which she lived. Her death is a profound loss for us all. The family will be receiving condolences on Friday, October 1st, at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Services will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 2nd at 11 AM under the direction of Carl R. Olausen. Interment in Pawtuxet Memorial Park.
