(03/09/13) West Warwick George U. Mitsmenn, 85, of East Greenwich Avenue died Friday, March 8, 2013 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Arlene (Shurtleff) Mitsmenn to whom at the time of her death on December 2, 2012 he had been married 65 years.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Clarence and Marion (Collins) Mitsmenn, he lived in Cranston for 35 years before moving to West Warwick five years ago. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
He worked as a manager of the Lowes Theatre in Providence and was the former owner of various cinemas throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. While living in Cranston he was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.
He is survived by his daughter Jane DiPetrillo of Sammamish, WA; two sons: Mark Mitsmenn of Warwick and Timothy Mitsmenn of Burrillville and four grandchildren: Michael and David DiPetrillo, Alanna and Timothy Mitsmenn. He was the brother of the late Frances Plaziak, Dorothy and Arthur Mitsmenn.
