(09/30/13) Fisher, John W. \"Jack\", passed away at home on Monday, September 30, 2013. He was the husband of the late Beverly (Southwick) Fisher. Born in Westborough, MA, he was the son of the late Harold and Emma (Danyow) Fisher.
Jack worked with the YMCA organization as a director for 30 years with stops in Orange, NJ; Somerville, NJ; Fall River, MA; and New Britain, CT. Before retiring, he served 10 years as the director of the New Britain Senior Center. He was a member of the LIon\'s Club, an Army veteran of the Korean War, and graduated from Springfield College with a Bachelor of Science In Physical Education. He enjoyed music, singing, and watching the Red Sox as well as the UConn men\'s and women\'s basketball teams. He also enjoyed golf and loved the beach and vacationing in Dennis, Cape Cod.
Jack was also a proud member of the 1943 State Champion Westborough, MA High School football team coached by his father, which was inducted into the school\'s Hall of Fame.
He is survived by two children: Scott Fisher of Elverson, PA and Keith Fisher and his wife Kathryn of Carolina, RI; a brother, Richard of Boylston, MA: two grandchildren: Amber and her partner Walter, and Samuel, as well as a great-grandson, Emmanuel. He is also survived by the wonderful, caring staff at Greenwich Farms in Warwick.
Calling hours will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Monday, October 7 from 4-7PM. Burial will be private.
