(10/17/13) Cumberland – John F. Carlin, 92, formerly of Cumberland and most recently of Cortland Place Assisted Living, Greenville, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Hilda (Mason) Carlin. Born in Central Falls, a son of the late John and Jessie (McNally) Carlin, he resided in Cumberland for many years. John was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was vice-president in Charge of Operations at Louis Regnier Associates, Providence until retiring in 1985, and was previously a sales representative for Royal Typewriter, Providence for 20 years. John enjoyed being involved in the Arnolds Mills 4th of July Parade Association, and also as a volunteer firefighter with the Arnolds Mills Fire Department. He leaves a son, John F. Carlin, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Surry, Maine; four daughters, Kathleen Cournoyer and her husband, Andre of Narragansett, Suzanne Baker and her husband, Robert of Bar Harbor, Maine, Christine Celone and her husband, Peter of Tiverton and Elizabeth McCarthy and her husband, Daniel of Cumberland; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jessie Harvey, James and Peter Carlin. VISITATION will be Sunday 5 to 8 p.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, 3655 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 or Cortland Place Assisted Living, 20 Austin Ave., Greenville, RI 02828 would be appreciated.
