(10/18/13) Coventry - Robert W. Lyons, 56, of Rathbun Street, died at home on Friday, October 18, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Gail L. (Anderson) Lyons with whom he celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on April 28, 2013.
Born in Warwick, the son of the late Wallace E. and Dorothy (Wells) Lyons, he was a lifelong resident of Coventry living in the same home all of his life. He was a heavy equipment operator and the owner of R.W. Lyons Excavating Company, a Coventry business started by his father.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his four daughters: Jennifer E. Lyons and her fiancé Kevin Kelley, Jessica L. Phillips and her husband David, Jamie Lyons-Dawkins and her husband Matthew and Robbie S. Lyons. Jennifer & Jessica are twins and all four daughters live in Coventry. He was a loving âPapaâ to his granddaughter Mattie Rose Dawkins. He is survived also by three sisters: Joan Lamont of Coventry, Jane Payette of MA and Deborah Pringles of Coventry and by several nieces & nephews.
Robâs family is remembering him as \"the best Dad\" there was; as a great role model and teacher and as a well-respected businessman.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening beginning at 7.
