(11/22/13) CUMBERLAND â Tania (Raybert) Tierney, 92, of Old Diamond Hill Road, died Friday, November 22, at Emerald Bay Manor, Cumberland. She was the wife of the late William J. F. Tierney.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of the late Charles R. and Marion (White) Raybert, she had lived in Cumberland for the past eighty years.
Mrs. Tierney worked for many years at Miller-George in Providence before retiring, and had also worked with the Office of Naval Intelligence and the Treasury Department.
She was a 1939 graduate of Cumberland High School, received her B.S. and M.A. from Boston University, and her Ph.D. from Columbia University.
She was very active with the Slater Park Lawn Bowling, and wrote many articles for the Wall Street Journal under a pseudonym. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by numerous second cousins, including her caregiver, L. Richard Savage of Cumberland.
A Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving will be held Monday, November 25, at 4:30 p.m. in BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service from 4:00 p.m. Private burial will take place in Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls.
