(09/02/14) Richard H. âPopâ Allen, 84, of Acres of Pine Road, Coventry, RI, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence, RI, he was the husband of Joan B. (Taylor) Allen. They were married for fifty-eight years. He was the son of the late George and Margaret (Doran) Allen.
Richard was a welding supervisor for Stanley Bostich for many years and prior to that he worked for Kenneth Castellucci & Associates as a granite cutter. He was a US Marine and US Army reservist. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, reading and watching New England sports. He was a great family man with a belief of family always first, and was a hard worker and provider.
Besides his wife he is survived by six children; Deborah Allen, Donna Willard and her husband Jeff, Richard Allen, Leo Allen and his wife Cathy, Mary Ginda and her husband James and Kevin Allen, several loving grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister; Margaret Byorick.
His services will be private.
