(01/03/16) Mircea Radu, 83, of East Greenwich, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Dobrita (Buia) Radu and the loving father of Olimpia A. Radu and her husband Aman Nanda, of East Greenwich.
Born in Romania, he was a son of the late Ioan and Silvia (Nemes) Radu and brother of the late Dionisie Radu.
Mr. Radu was an Engineer for Romanian Development Bank until his retirement. He was a loving husband and father. He was fun loving and jolly. His big passions were music, singing, ballroom dancing. He had a big heart and kept lifelong friendships. He loved his birthplace Siret in Bucovina and always longed for it.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10 am in St. John the Baptist Romanian Orthodox Church, 501 East School Street, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 5-8 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95).
