(01/07/11) Gerald D. Coolbaugh, 79, of Summit Avenue, West Warwick, RI, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at RI Hospital, Providence. Born in Duryea, PA, he was the husband of the late Bette (Healey) Coolbaugh and the son of the late Joseph and Nellie (Beaver) Coolbaugh.
Gerald was a painter foreman for General Dynamics Corp. at Electric Boat in Groton, CT for thirty years until retiring in 1988. He was a US Navy Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #2, West Warwick, RI.
Gerald is survived by two sons; David A. and Danni L. Coolbaugh, a daughter; Debra A. Henry, a sister; Audrey Coolbaugh, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter; Donna Bourgoin, a sister; Margaret Coolbaugh, and eight brothers; Elery, Joseph, William, John, Raymond, Robert, Grant and Albert Coolbaugh.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 10:00 am in the Gorton â Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours are Monday, January 10, from 2:00 â 5:00 pm. Military Honors will be held at the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
