(01/25/11) Edna (Godfrey) Simmons, 89, formerly of Maple Street, Warwick, and of Barrington, passed away Monday at St. Elizabeth Home. Born in Warwick, she was the wife of the late George G. Simmons and the daughter of the late William H. and Lillie (Congdon) Godfrey.
Mrs. Simmons worked as an assembler for Leesona Corp. in Warwick, an operator for AT&T and a nurses aid at the Howard Medical Facility. She was a former member of the Friendly Mixers and Whirlaways Square Dance Groups.
She was the beloved mother of Steven T. Simmons and his wife Nancy of Shorewood, Minn., Deborah L. Aldrich and her husband Geoffrey of Peterboro, NH, Kenneth G. Simmons and his wife Bernice of Charlestown, Martha E. Miller and her husband Garry of Woolwich, ME, Susan L. Beauchemin and her husband Michael of Morro Bay, CA and Amy J. Marseglia and her husband Robert of Brewster, MA. Caring sister of Carolyn Simmons of Boston, MA. Cherished grandmother of nineteen and great-grandmother of eighteen. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday 5-8 pm. Funeral Service will be Friday at 11:00 am. Both to be held at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park.
