(08/24/11) Dorothy I. (Slaven) Schofield, 84, of Warwick, died peacefully Monday, August 22, 2011 in the company of her loving family and caregivers.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Susan I. (Johnson) Slaven. Dot worked as a Psychiatric Attendant at the State of RI Medical Center for 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of RI State Retirees Chapter 94, AFSCME, and a former member of its Executive Board. She was a communicant of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John, Providence for more than 70 years, and more recently of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Warwick.
She is survived by a daughter, Leslie I. Gomes of Warwick, three sons, Stanley W. Schofield, Jr., and John H. Schofield both of Warwick, and David M. Schofield of Cranston, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late John H. Slaven, Jr.
Her funeral service will be held Sat. August 27, 2011 at 10am at St. Barnabas Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick. Kindly omit flowers. Gifts to the church in her memory will be appreciated. Information and condolences at carpenterjenks.com.
