Doryce "Minnie" (Kilguss) Smith - , RI

(08/14/10) Doryce “Minnie” (Kilguss) Smith, 95, of Warwick, died peacefully on August 14, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Home of East Greenwich. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late George J. Kilguss and Emma (Mayer) Kilguss. She was the wife of the late Irving L. Smith. Mrs. Smith was an office worker for the former Almacs Supermarkets until her retirement and served a secretary at the Providence Journal. She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and was known as the “Bootie Lady”, knitting thousands of infant booties as gifts during her lifetime. She leaves her two sons, David M. Smith and his wife Alice E. of Richmond and Bruce K. Smith and his wife Barbara J. of Saunderstown. Loving grandmother of five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late George E. Kilguss, Clarence Kilgus, and Ralph Kilguss. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 10:00 am in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1817 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial will follow in Pocasset Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95). In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the Providence Journal Summertime Fund, 75 Fountain St., Providence, R.I. 02902, would be appreciated.
