(12/18/11) FANTASIA, FRANCES M. (FIELD), 71, formerly of Providence, died peacefully December 18, 2011. She was born May 20, 1940, in Providence to the late Chester Field and Ethel (Buxton) Field Casperson. She worked at numerous dining establishments in the Providence area, but was most proud of being the owner of the former Arnold’s Diner on Atwells Avenue in Providence. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, the late Ralph A. Fantasia, Sr. She leaves behind five children and their families: Dawn Pezzullo and her husband, Dan, of Coventry; Ralph Fantasia, Jr., and his partner, Lynn Sczuroski, of Woodland, ME; Dino Fantasia and his wife, Jackie Connolly, of Middleboro, MA; Ricci Fantasia and his wife, Jenn, of Pawtucket; and Mario Fantasia and his wife, Rehannen, of Warwick. She was a beloved grandmother to Dawn Paliotti of Cranston, Nicole Paliotti of South Kingston, Adam Fantasia of Presque Isle, ME, Angelyna Paliotti of Kearny, NJ, Laura Fantasia and Alex Fantasia of Washburn, ME, Kerin Scarpa of Coventry, Rebecca Fantasia of Cranston, Rachel Connolly of Middleboro, MA and Ricci Jae Fantasia of Pawtucket. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren. She was the eldest of eight children: Chet Field, Violet Field, Edith (Field) Czerwein, Louise (Casperson) Evans, Patricia (Casperson) Laurino, Herbert Casperson III, and William Casperson. A funeral service will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick on Friday, December 23 at 9 AM. Calling hours from 4-7 on Thursday. Burial will be alongside her husband in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Johnston, RI.
