(01/01/12) Marion S. Thompson, 91, of Rathbun Street, Coventry, RI, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Kent Hospital. Born in Pawtucket, RI she was the wife of the late C. Elliott Thompson and the daughter of the late George and Christina Simmons.
Marion was the head bookkeeper at Washington Lace Works for twenty-five years before retiring in 1982. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, knitting and she loved to travel. She was also devoted to her church. Marion was the Past President of the United Methodist Women and a member of the RI Honor Society.
She is survived by a son; Elliott D. Thompson of Coventry, RI, a daughter; Barbara J. Albon of St. Helena, SC, two grandchildren; Keith and Brian Albon and four great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Cornerstone of Faith UMC, 1081 Main Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI.
Burial will take place in the Greenwood Burial Grounds, Coventry, RI. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cornerstone of Faith UMC, 1081 Main St., Coventry, RI 02816.
