(01/02/12) Paul L. Bennett, 85, of Warwick passed away Saturday at Greenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation. He was the beloved husband of Rita M. (Fisher) Bennett. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frederick and Fredericka (Miller) Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was a Foreman Colorist with Arkwright Interlaken in Coventry and served in The United States Navy during WW II. He was a Volunteer Firefighter with Station 1 of Warwick and a member of the Apponaug Old Timers Association.
He was the loving father of John Bennett of Warwick, Patricia VanEckoute and her husband James of Cranston, Susan McElroy and her husband Kenneth of Coventry and the late Geraldine Strobel. Cherished grandfather of Ryan VanEckoute, Trish Vinacco, Kelly Cybulski, Erin McElroy, Jennifer Driscoll and Kaitlyn Nagel and great grandfather of six. Caring brother of Dorothy Jorgenson and Barbara Cooke, both of Warwick and the late Frederick, Herbert, and Arthur Bennett, Annie Mailloux and Alfred, Frederick, Ralph and George Hockhousen.
Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation Thursday from 9:00-11:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park.
