(08/25/12) West Warwick - James F. Butler, Sr., 85, of East Greenwich Avenue and formerly of Leisure Way, Coventry died Friday, August 24, 2012 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Esther M. (Raleigh) Butler. Born in Cranston, a son of the late George A. and Mary E. (Howard) Butler, he was a World War II United States Navy veteran serving with the Seabees. He worked as an assistant boiler operator, employed by Narragansett Electric Company for 37 years retiring in 1992. He is survived by his son James F. Butler, Jr. of Portsmouth; his sister Mary E. \"Evie\" Walmsley of Central Falls; his grandsons: Ted J. Butler of Bristol and John T. Butler of East Greenwich and his beloved companion Eleanor Horiagon of West Warwick. He was predeceased by his brothers John and George Butler. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick. Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 27 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
