(08/26/12) Cumberland â Ovila J. âChickâ Pelland, 85, of Little Pond County Road died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Neil) Pelland. Mr. and Mrs. Pelland were married for 53 years.
Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Homer and Roseanne (Bergeron) Pelland, he had lived in Cumberland for the past 23 years.
Mr. Pelland was an engineering aide for Texas Instruments, Attleboro for 32 years before retiring in 1968.
He was a member of Assembly of God Church, South Attleboro.
He was a Korean War Army veteran.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey J. Pelland and his companion, Sheila Fagan of Cumberland and Michael Merola of North Scituate; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Tracy Ann Pelland and the brother of the late Herve, Aldor and Donat Pelland, Laudia Gagnon, Leone OâDonnell, Irene Deneault and Dorilla Larence.
His funeral and burial will be private.
