(12/01/12) James M. Sheridan, of Warwick, died Friday, November 30, 2012. Born in Providence in 1930, the only child of James Sheridan of County Meath, Ireland and Irene (Larock) of Providence.
He was a graduate of NYU with a varied and interesting career that included the Korean Conflict (Intelligence Unit); design member of the first U.S. nuclear submarine-USS Nautilus, member of the Cranston School Committee; Budget and Campaign Director of the United Fund; a teacher; a real estate developer/broker and owner of the James Martin Co. A lover of opera, classical music and an avid reader, especially history and ancient civilizations. A longtime resident of Warwick, he was married to his devoted wife, Ann (Donahue) for thirty five years.
James leaves a loving family of whom he was exceedingly proud: daughters Erin Sheridan of Warwick and Dorothy Haskell (Stephen) of Rehoboth, sons Steven (Susan Tanner) of Rehoboth and James Esq. of Fall River; grandchildren Lauren Tellier of Providence, Elizabeth Kilcoyne (Aidan) of New Jersey, Heather Cerra (John) of Warwick, Meredith Khoury (Jordan) of Swansea and Mark Haskell (Stacy) of Rehoboth; great-grandchildren Charlotte Kilcoyne, Stephen Khoury, Aidan and Hunter Haskell, Kaitlyn Cerra, and Cooper Tobin. Very special cousins Barbara Wulf, Barbara Smutney, Edmund Myers and Roberts Myers and their families. Brother-in-law Joseph Donahue (Nancy) niece Heather Donahue and nephew Joseph Donahue all of Cranston.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 9:00 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Avenue, East Greenwich. Interment will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
