(12/11/13) Roland G. Frenette, Sergeant First Class, United States Army (Ret) of 10 Friar Tuck Lane, Coventry died on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of Kaaren L. (McDermott) Frenette. Roland and Kaaren celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on October 12, 2013.
Born in West Warwick on July 7, 1944, he was the son of the late Ernest J. and Thelma F. (Gardiner) Frenette. In addition to his wife, he leaves two nephews, two nieces and two great nieces.
Mr. Frenette served in The United States Army with the 103rd Field Artillery during the Vietnam War and retired from the Army in 1999. He was a graduate of Deering High School, West Warwick, received his Bachelors Degree from Johnson & Wakes College and his Masters Degree from Salve Regina University. Roland was a former Teachers Assistant in Killingly, CT and Johnston, RI and was a teacher at Sawyer Business School. He was a member of the American Legion, life member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of Coventry West Greenwich Elks, a former volunteer fireman in Johnston, RI and past president of the Sherwood Valley Homeowner\'s Association. Roland will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man.

(12/13/13) Marian F. Brown, 95, of Warwick passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Sunny View Nursing Home. Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Harold R. and Lena Mae (Place) Brown.
Miss Brown was a secretary for the Warwick School Department, serving at Lakewood Senior and Junior High School, for over 39 years until her retirement. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she was as Church organist and pianist, a member of the church choir, and a member of the music and social committees and the women\'s guild of the church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 45 years.
She is survived by a niece Louise Oliveri and several cousins. She was the sister of the late Marjorie Rice.

(12/14/13) Americo âMoe\" Barreiro, 95, of Warwick, died peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2013 at West Shore Health Center. He was the husband of the late Mary L. (George) Barreiro. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Salvadore Barreiro and Geneina (da Fouseca) Barreiro.
Mr. Barreiro was employed as a Motor Repairman for Schmidt Electric and Pawtucket Electric Supply. He proudly served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during WWII. He was a member of the Portuguese American Club, The German American Club, a volunteer at the Cathedral of S.S. Peter and Paul, volunteer at the Pawtucket Boys Club, member of the Holy Name Society, and an avid Red Sox fan.
He leaves his three loving daughters: Mary J. Theroux and her husband Peter of North Providence, Joan M. Kent and her husband Steven of East Greenwich, and Susan A. Essex and her husband Steven of Warwick. Cherished grandfather of Nicole, Mandi, Steven, Peter, and great-grandfather of Taylor and Emma. He was the brother of Joseph Barreiro of Lincoln, Mary Jones of Virginia, Ena Grenier of FL, and the late Eugene, Matthew, and Arthur Barreiro.

(12/15/13) POLINICK, John M. III, 70, of Gerald St., West Warwick, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at Kent Hospital.
He was the husband of Lois (Burke) Polinick. Born in West Warwick, a son of the late John M. Polinick, Jr. and Mary A. (Rezendes) Polinick. He was a lifelong resident of West Warwick.
Mr. Polinick was a machinist at Arkwright for 21 years before retiring in 2005. Following retirement he has been employed at Centreville Bank. He was a Vietnam War era Navy Veteran, a member of the West Warwick American Legion Post 2 and the Anthony PNA.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, John M. Polinick, IV of Johnston and Christopher J. Polinick of North Providence; two step-children, Kerri Viele and Arthur Cute; a sister, Sandra Wilcox of Port St. Lucie, FL and three step-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Wayne Polinick.
His funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at 9 am from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in SS. Frank "Monk" Maznicki - , RI
(12/16/13) MAZNICKI, Frank âMonkâ, 93, of Coaches Court, made his final run to the end zone on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013.
He was the husband of the late Frances (Forys) Maznicki. Born in West Warwick, a son of the late Stanislaw and Eleanor Maznicki. He was a lifelong resident of West Warwick.
Mr. Maznicki was a teacher and legendary football coach where he won 17 championships at West Warwick High School.
A graduate of West Warwick High School and Boston College, while at BC he was an All American and played on the 1941 team that won the Cotton Bowl and the National Championship. He later played in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and in 1946 won the World Championship.
He was a World War II Navy Pilot, a Hall of Fame inductee of West Warwick High School, Boston College, RIIL, Providence Gridiron Club and RI Heritage and a lifelong member of West Warwick Country Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl F. Drozdz and her husband Ted of West Greenwich; a son, Michael F. Maznicki and his wife Joyce of West Warwick; a grandson, Stony Maznicki, WWPD and his wife Susan and two great grandchildren, Dominik and Maci Maznicki. He was the brother of the late Henry Maznicki.

Marjorie H (Allen) Worthington - , RI
(12/17/13) Warwick - Marjorie Hudson (Allen) Worthington, 83, of Eagle Run and a summer resident of Ashland, NH passed away peacefully at her home in Warwick surrounded by her family on December 16, 2013. She was the beloved wife of John M. Worthington with whom she celebrated their 63 years of marriage.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Gladys (Parkin) Allen, she lived in Cranston before moving to Warwick. With her love of music, she attended the Rhode Island Conservatory of Music and the University of Rhode Island.
She was an active member of the Warwick Central Baptist Church and, during the summer months, of the Ashland Baptist Church. Marjorieâs love of music also led her to serve churches as an accomplished choir member and soloist. She was a past member of the Western Cranston Garden Club. Marjorie shared her passion of Godâs creation through gardening, collecting specimen bugs, bird feathers, rocks, shells and autumn leaves.
As a committed wife, mother and grandmother, she will be remembered for her servant heart, born out of her unconditional love and kindness. She led a life steeped in prayer, which became the foundation of her daily living and lifeâs-offering; always pointing others to the love of Christ that was so evident in her life.
In addition to her husband Marjorie is survived by their children: James M. Worthington & his wife Robyn of Swansea, MA, Ann L. Mandanici & her husband Dean of Medina, OH, Peter L. Worthington & his wife Sara of Cranston, Thomas A. Worthington & his wife Kathleen of Cranston and John T. Bowering, 92, of One Saint Elizabeth Way, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Saint Elizabeth Home, East Greenwich less than twenty minutes shy of his 93rd birthday. He was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie D. (McCauley) Bowering to whom at the time of her death on February 5, 2007 he had been married 68 years.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph and Emma (Myers) Bowering, he previously had lived in Warwick and North Kingstown. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as an engineer employed by the Hoisting Engineers Local 4, Boston, until his retirement in 1974.
He is survived by two children: Jane A. Tudino of Warwick and David Bowering of Tampa, FL; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Albert \"Buddy\" Bowering, Edward Bowering, Joyce A. Jay and Raymond Russell Bowering and the brother of the late Joseph Bowering, Emmalyn Bowering, Helen Ledoux and Mary Hurst.

(12/20/13) Shirley A. (Johansen) Hadfield, 78, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward H. \"Nifty\" Hadfield. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Arvid and Ida (King) Johansen.
Mrs. Hadfield worked as a secretary the Outlet Co., and the Shepard Co., and also Hoechst Celanese until her retirement in 1995.
Her greatest pleasure was her family.
She is survived by her devoted children Steven Doughty and his partner Denise Garganese, Linda Feeley and her husband Thomas, and Wendy Feinstein and her husband Mitchell all of Warwick. She was the stepmother of Edward S. Hadfield and his wife Beverly of Lincoln. Mrs. Hadfield was the cherished grandmother of Michael Doughty and his wife Stephanie, and Rachael Frazier and her husband Matt. She was the loving Great Grandmother of her five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother James Walsh.

David was a laborer for RI Resource and Recovery of Johnston, RI for eight years. He previously worked for Valley Gas Company of Cumberland, RI. He greatly loved his family, his animals and enjoyed working outdoors.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son; Keith R. Fregeolle and his fiancée Lindy, a daughter; Amey S. McGlenn and her husband Don, three brothers; Donald Fregeolle, Douglas Fregeolle and Dennis Fregeolle, two sisters; Dorothy Dauray and Dale Balkcom and two grandchildren; Camryn and Bailey. (12/22/13) Cumberland â Michael J. Winslow, 61, of Diamond Hill Road died Thursday, December 19, 2013 after a valiant battle with multiple myeloma.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Joseph J. and Theresa (Lavallée) Winslow, he had lived in Cumberland for all of his life.
Michael was a pipeline technician for Spectra Energy working in Burrillville. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, and a member of the First Spiritualist Church of Rhode Island, East Providence.
John is survived by his sister, Paula L. Kiley and his sister-in-law, Karen Winslow, both of Cumberland; one nephew, Samuel Kiley of Virginia; one niece, Sarah Kiley of Oregon; and his large extended family and many friends. He was the brother of the late David Winslow.

(12/26/13) Dorothy F. (Higgins) Mullen, 82, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late Walter F. Mullen. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Theodore S. Higgins and Dorothy M. (Stevens) Higgins, step daughter of the late Helena E. Higgins and sister of the late Theodore S. Higgins, Jr.
Mrs. Mullen was an Educator for 35 years and retired from the Warwick School System in 1988. A dedicated professional, she taught English to recent immigrants who wished to be proficient and good Americans. She was an expert in Braille and transcribed and printed thousands of books from her home for school children and adult readers in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She was a volunteer at INSIGHT and the R.I. Braille Transcription Center. An animal lover and supporter, Dot was a Champion breeder of Beagles.

(12/28/13) Cumberland â Donald Large, 76, of Mayflower Drive died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Valerie W. (Luse) Large.
A lifelong resident of Cumberland, he was a son of the late Harold and Mary (Lincoln) Large.
Don was the owner, with the late Ken White, of Large & White Realtors, Cumberland for many years. He served in the United States Navy during peacetime.
He served on the Cumberland Town Council for several years and served in the Rhode Island General Assembly as a member of the House Representatives for the Town of Cumberland.
He was a member of Lafayette Lodge #47, F. & A.M., Cumberland.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three loving daughters, Kimberly W. Goosmann and her husband James, Bonnie A. Large and Vicki E. DâAugelli and her husband David, all of Cumberland; one sister, Joan Ryan of Marietta, GA; two brothers, Harold Large, Jr. of Cumberland and William Large of Johnston; his seven beloved grandchildren, Christine, Kathleen and Nicole Goosmann, Melissa Robidoux and her husband Kenneth, Amy, Ashley and Thomas DâAugelli; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Nancy Carr and Janet Frazier.

(12/28/13) Ruth A. Page (Rogers), 49, of Jade Road died Saturday at Miriam Hospital. She was the wife of Robert R. Page.
Born in Cranston, a daughter of the late Henry F. and Ruth M. (Mongeau) Rogers she had been a Warwick resident before moving to Coventry nine years ago. Mrs. Page was an administrative assistant at Roberts Automotive for over ten years.
Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Ryan A. Page of Warwick, Adam R. and Eric M. Page both of Coventry; two sisters, Eileen A. Cerbarano of Coventry and Jean L. Smith of Johnston.

(12/29/13) Cumberland â Dorothy M. (Vose) Bascombe, 92, of Old West Wrentham Road died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
She was the wife of the late Willard E. Bascombe.
A lifelong resident of Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Ornando F. and Madeline (Slocum) Vose.
She was employed by Tanury Brothers Jewelry Manufacturers of Lincoln for many years before retiring in 1965.
She was a member of Cumberland Community Methodist Church, Cumberland and a member of Lime Rock Chapter #26, OES, Lincoln. She was a member for over 50 years of the Cumberland Grange P. of H.
She is survived by three daughters, Judith Petrin of Cumberland, Barbara L. Kemp of Prospect Heights, IL and Carol A. Blouin of Williston, VT; three sons, James A. Bascombe, Willard E. Bascombe, Jr. and Bruce E. Bascombe, all of Cumberland; one sister, Lois Angell of Cumberland; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Harold Bascombe and the sister of the late Ruth Roy, Shirley Morris, Eleanor Masse and Marjorie Ashworth.
Her funeral service will be held SATURDAY, JANUARY 4 at 11 A.M. at BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will be in Diamond Hill Cemetery, Cumberland.
