(10/24/13) James A. Darcy, 88, of Warwick, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Westerly Health Center. He was the beloved husband of Norma (Rowland) Darcy for 60 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Arthur and Florence (Leary) Darcy. Mr. Darcy graduated from Aldrich HS in Warwick 1943. He was a WW II Veteran of Company C 250th Engineer Combat Battalion serving in the European theater and responsible for the Building of the \"Friendship Bridge\" over the Elbe River. He continued to serve his country as a civilian working for the U.S. Defense Mapping Agency, Army Topographical Command in West Warwick, retiring in 1984. He was the loving father of Kim Darcy of Warwick and Jay A. Darcy of Windham, NH. Cherished grandfather of Teryn Austin and Taylor Darcy. He was the brother of the late Brendan Darcy, Muriel Carey, Mary Devereaux and Patricia Powers. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 11:00 am in St. Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to Cornerstone Adult Services, 140 Warwick Neck Avenue, Warwick, RI 02889 would be appreciated.
