(04/14/12) Helen Jean (Pentz) Bennett, 86, of Warwick, died peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2012 at South Kingstown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in DuBois, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John J. Pentz and Mabel R. (Peterson) Pentz. She was the loving wife of John F. Bennett.
Mrs. Bennett was a School Teacher in the Warwick School System for many years until her retirement. She was a 1947 graduate of Smith College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
In addition, she was a 50-year member of the Potowomut Country Club, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was very active in Warwick Bridge Clubs. She enjoyed knitting, and crossword puzzles, especially the Sunday New York Times.
Besides her husband, she leaves her four devoted children: J. Michael Bennett and his wife Pamela of West Kingston, Cheryl B. Connelly and her husband Kevin of Madison, NJ, Janice A. Harrison and her husband Richard of Walpole, MA, and Lauren E. Bates and her husband Eric of Pelham, NY. Cherished grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was the sister of John J. Pentz, Jr. of East Stroudsburg, PA and William H. Pentz of Philadelphia, PA.
Her funeral service will be held Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95). Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 9:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the Alzheimer\'s Association, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 will be appreciated.
